Cotesma Natural Reserve protects a series of lagoons and a part of Maipú River in La Vega Plana Meadow, a partially urbanized area in San Martín de los Andes. This meadow plays and important roles on the hydrological regulation of the Lácar Lake basin, including the valley where the town is located. The lagoons and wetlands provide suitable habitat to the local fauna, especially birds.
TARGET SPECIES: Black-faced Ibis, Ashy-headed Goose, Upland Goose, Spectacled Tyrant, Long-tailed Meadowlark, Grass Wren, Correndera Pipit, Cinereous Harrier, Short-eared Owl, Chilean Wigeon, Silver Tail, Brown-headed Gull, Red-gartered Coot, South American Stilt, Wren-like Rushbird, Many-colored Rush-Tyrant.
